Here below is a copy of the UN Chart of Human Rights and, I have marked the ones I think we as a country (The UK) do not meet now or, will not meet if we pass upcoming legislation….an interesting article….

The declaration…(I have crossed out the bits I think do not apply to us and noted why)

Article 1.
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Article 2.
*Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.

Plainly by this article the entire UN Declaration does not apply to us in this country (UK)

I think the days of email are fast disappearing into the sunset, much like Peter Andre’s career…I nearly did a George Bush (sans Pretzel) when I read this little nugget, squirreled away on the Times Online site the other day…

I was reading Acts (as you do) and I got to :

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

(Acts ch2 v42:47)

and I got to thinking that if you are in a church or ministry then these verses hold some important pointers for you…I looked at these verses and they held such direction and challenge when we were seting up Leap Of Faith

You need to be devoted to learning and gaining in discernment. Your mission and relationship to the will of God comes through your understanding of the heart of God, and you can gain in your knowledge of and about God through daily immersion in the Word. When you work in a ministry what you do, no matter what it is needs to “wow” people, you need to make people look on and be encouraged to know who you know and to learn and grow. If all that you do is sourced from the Holy Spirit and the heart of God then miraculous things will happen.

You have to think BIG, God sized thoughts. When you step forward and accept your commission, doing stuff under your own steam ceases to be an option.

Politics should not be an option. You as a ministry need to hold ALL your gifts, skills and knowledge in common, for the common good, working together all the time.

Time is something you can never recover, this is a gift which you should not underestimate. Give it freely, it is of much value.

Value your brothers and sisters in Christ and fellowship as a ministry often. Grow in each others esteem and love. If the ministry is to develop then you need to nurture each other, you need to pray for each other. An effective ministry is like an exciting Chemistry lesson, pour some ingredients in and shake well, then stand back. Find a place that infuses your team or encourages them to blue-sky stuff. Thinking big is thinking God sized thoughts, but acting on those thoughts now that takes humility.

Be humble. Never lose sight of the fact that God is using you but it is God’s power that is at work. Many times people have become puffed up with their achievements, forgetting that it is the wonder and power of God that is an enabler. Your gifts are just that, be humble and serve.

Serve all members of your ministry. An organisation chart is just that. We are commanded to serve. Remember to be less that you think you are, let your pride go and serve your ministry members.

Some people wake up every day saying “How can I change the world today”, if that is you then step forward and begin something new. You might change the world, but you will surely change someones world.

As we say in Cursillo…”Ultreya!”

Charities

10Aug08

Just a thought but I got an email from a well known charity job site today and I noticed with some incredulity that almost 80% of the jobs advertised were located in or around the London area with some of them being in the centre of London.

Why, if charities as we are always being told, are so strapped for cash do they waste money by spending extortionate amounts of charitable donations on expensive London offices?

It makes no sense…in fact I think that any charity who asks me for money will first be asked “where is you head office located and why?”. Unless they are a charity that works solely in London there can be no excuse for paying such hi rental fees for office space and employment fees in one of the most expensive cities in the world!

Rant over :)

I found an old cd the other day..”Top Gun - Original Sound Track” and I have to say that it is the best sound track of any film I think I have ever heard. Listening to it brought back so many memories and good feelings.

The film was brilliant and helped shape a generation on “the need for speed”, it was one of the closing films of the Cold War era and helped launch a thousand Fighter Pilot dreams as well as the career of Val Kilmer IMHO….

Fantastic!

My favourite line…”Slider…….you stink!”.

Best song on the sound track….”Playing with the boys”.

Great film…
